Welcome Our New Director

We have some news from the Ranchview Band. Mr. Andrew Blezinger has decided not to return to Ranchview for the 2018-2019 school year. He will be joining the staff at Arlington High School in Arlington ISD next year. Mr. Blezinger was a great addition to our staff this past school year and he will be greatly missed. We wish Mr. Blezinger the best of luck at his new school.

The good news is we have found a wonderful and very talented teacher that will fulfill the position of associate band director for the 2018-2019 school year. We want to welcome Mr. Evan Dabbs to the Ranchview Band family! Mr. Dabbs comes from Plano iSD and Ferris ISD. Mr. Dabbs is a very talented percussionists and will be instructing our percussion students this year. In addition to teaching percussion, Mr. Dabbs is also a band director and will teaching our 2nd band as well. Below is Mr. Dabbs bio that will appear on our website.

Evan Dabbs is in his ninth year teaching, and excited to work with Ranchview! Mr. Dabbs has worked with outstanding programs across DFW, teaching band, percussion, steel band, and music theory. He currently directs the Ranchview second band and percussion studio.

Prior to coming to Ranchview, he worked in Ferris ISD, where his band improved UIL ratings and his percussion program started a steel band and received division one ratings at state solo and ensemble. Mr. Dabbs has also worked as a lesson teacher and percussion instructor all over the Dallas area, including students from Melissa, Arlington, Wylie, Mesquite, Plano, Saginaw, and Frisco schools. He has taught at Vines and Clark High Schools in Plano, working in the Plano Sr. High School cluster. There his groups have consistently performed at a high level, both with the drumline and percussion ensembles.

Mr. Dabbs attended Arizona State University for his Master’s Degree, where he taught the ASU Pan Devils Steel Band and undergraduate studio lessons. Evan graduated with his Bachelors in Music Education from Texas Christian University. In addition to teaching, Mr. Dabbs has a consistent performance schedule. He also has written and arranged for band, steel pan, and percussion ensembles.

Outside of the classroom, Mr. Dabbs is usually spending time with his wife Jennifer and his pets. Before school, look for him running, riding his bike, swimming laps, or maybe just perfecting his waffle recipe.

Again, welcome Mr. Dabbs to the Ranchview Band family! Mr. Dabbs and I both are looking forward to a fantastic year at Ranchview and we cannot wait to see all of the Ranchview band students during summer band.
